Job Title: Product Compliance Officer, Nigeria

Location: Nigeria
Department: Compliance & Risk

The Role

  • Flutterwave is looking for a Product Compliance Officer to evaluate the potential compliance risks of any new or existing product, feature, or vertica.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be Like

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (e.g. Product Managers, Compliance, Risk, Legal, etc) to evaluate the potential compliance risks of any new or existing product, feature, or vertical
  • Provide general AML/compliance advisory to Product Teams,Expansion, Growth, Engineering, Customer Experience,  on behalf of the broader Compliance function
  • Determine compliance requirements for domestic and international markets
  • Advise Payments Product team on Compliance operational process and regulatory requirements across various markets
  • Design go-to market strategies that comply with applicable regulatory obligations for all Payments products, initiatives and strategies
  • Build a tactical road-map and set goals that align with strategic product roadmap
  • Design and draft all relevant program documentation, content, and processes
  • Participate in annual risk assessments and audits
  • Manage transitions between project stages and ensure that changes are consistent with organisational goals.
  • Gather and track implementation of product-specific Compliance requirements to support launch milestones (e.g. alpha, beta, general availability). Where significant changes in timeline or obstacles are known, Product Compliance Officers are expected to communicate and/or resolve these in a timely manner
  • Support expansion for new payments product launches by scoping, defining and communicating product and compliance requirements
  • Participate in the review and negotiation of partner contracts to ensure consistency with existing processes and systems or highlight changes needed to integrate for future growth plans

Required Competencies and Skills to be a Waver

  • 5+ years experience in applicable payments, card networks, and money transmission rules and regulations
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of Global AML Compliance and Banking regulations
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Contribute to other needs within the Internal Products team as may be required from time to time
  • Must be able to multi-task and keep calm under pressure
  • The flexibility to work outside normal office hours as may be required from time-to-time.
  • Knowledge of Customer underwriting, Risk assessment and Risk Management
  • Experience drafting policies and procedures
  • Exceptional written and verbal presentation skills coupled with the ability to drive consensus.
  • SQL, Data science knowledge is an added advantage.
  • A track record of following through on commitments

Job Title: Tax and Transfer Pricing Manager (Africa)

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Department: Finance

The Role

  • The Tax and Transfer Pricing Manager (Africa) will report directly to the Head of Finance (Africa) and have overall responsibility for ensuring Flutterwave entities comply with all statutory tax and transfer pricing obligations in all the countries we operate in.
  • This role will oversee the activities of tax advisers in all these locations and will also maintain and develop strong relationship with respective tax authorities.
  • The candidate will also be responsible for advising management of developments in the tax space that will impact Flutterwave’s business model, including review of contracts and intragroup agreements for tax compliance.
  • The selected candidate must be an experienced tax professional and self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • This role also involves being able to identify tax planning opportunities for Flutterwave.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be Like

  • Take full ownership of the tax compliance obligations across Flutterwave, including monthly and annual tax filings (all taxes), transfer pricing filings, tax computations, capital allowance computations, adjustments to accounting profits for tax purposes, etc.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all tax advisers in each country operated from
  • Develop good relationships with tax authorities in each country
  • Attend to tax audit queries, tax audit exercises, transfer pricing audits, and other routine checks from regulators in relation to tax matters
  • Manage all tax and levy risks. This includes NASENI Levy, Police Trust Fund, Industrial Training fund, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund
  • Work with HR to ensure tax compliance with all employee-related taxes and contributions
  • Work with HR to ensure employees obtain tax clearance certificates
  • Obtain tax clearance certificates in all countries we operate in
  • Advice HR from time to time on tax planning opportunities for employees.
  • Review existing transfer pricing policy and advise management on recent changes in regulations that could impact the policy
  • Review internal agreements within Flutterwave entities to ensure compliance with all tax laws and transfer pricing regulations
  • Work closely with other departments to keep abreast of new business activities and address resulting opportunities, risks and tax consequences
  • Identify potential tax planning opportunities for Flutterwave and work with the appropriate personnel of all entities within the organization to implement tax advice rendered by its tax advisers
  • Maintain tax balance on general ledger/reconciliation of tax journals
  • Review all contracts to ensure tax efficiency and optimization and seek advice from Flutterwave’s tax advisers as appropriate

Required Competencies and Skills to be a Waver

  • B.A / B.Sc / Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • CITN or ICAN certified
  • 9+ years of progressive experience in tax role
  • An organized self-manager, with ability to lead a remote team
  • Excellent presentation & communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Proficient with MS office (Excel and word)
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving
  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws across Africa
  • Appreciable understanding of ERP systems

Job Title: Enhanced Due Diligence and Transaction Monitoring Associate

Location: Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-time

The Role

  • Flutterwave is looking for Transaction Monitoring Associates.
  • This role will primarily be responsible for monitoring and analyzing transactions from a risk-based approach to identify suspicious activities/transactions

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be Like

  • Ensure all assigned scenarios are reviewed, treated and closed daily
  • All identified suspicious transactions and activities should be treated as outlined in the Transaction Monitoring Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Maintain an accurate schedule of all SARs/STRs filed with the NFIU
  • Implement transaction monitoring rules across all products/services to ensure prompt detection, analysis and reporting of suspicious transactions/activities
  • Conduct due diligence on Merchants and ensure the KYC documents are in place in line with the guidelines provided in the AML/CFT, KYC and Sanctions policies and frameworks of the organization
  • Identify process/procedure gaps and recommend solutions to fill the gaps
  • Escalate complicated tickets as appropriate
  • Follow up with internal customers where necessary
  • Recommend product/ service improvements
  • Ensure attendance of all scheduled trainings and meetings.
  • Ensure all administered tests after each training is taken.
  • Automate manual processes for efficiency and productivity
  • Prepare adhoc, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half year and year end reports highlighting key AML/CFT risks with corresponding mitigants
  • Good understanding of the funds flow and features of all products and services
  • Track, manage and (resolve) respond to internal customer queries

Required Competency and Skillset to be a waver

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required
  • Strong work ethics and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to multi-task and keep calm under pressure
  • Excellent, proven organisational skills
  • The flexibility to work outside normal office hours as may be required from time-to-time
  • Knowledge in AML domain with preferably 3 years minimum work experience in compliance
  • Exceptional attention to detail, very good written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid analytical skills with experience conducting research and creating reports
  • Excellent PC proficiency, including MS Office applications
